This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

He also was a former chief of staff at the Thomas D. Dee Memorial Hospital. Recently. he was elected to the board of directors of the Pride Oil Co. His civic activities included membership in the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, Weber Club, Ogden Goif and Country Club and the Alta Club | of Salt Lake City. Dr. Rich was an elder in the Forty-third LDS Ward and had om mee {served a mission to the New England states. A native of Ogden, he was born | Jan. 21, 1901, a son of Ezra C. and. -| Annie Lowe Rich. He attended Ogden City schools ‘| and the University of Utah. He received his medical degree from: Harvard University Medical School | and interned at St. Luke’s Hospital ‘in Chicago, where he also served his residency. | Following post graduate work in Vienna, he returned to Ogden and | began medical practice with his | father in 1926. In recent years he was associat- | ed with Dr. Drew M. Petersen and Dr. Donald M.
