This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Herrick had his routine interrupted as other employes of the LDS Church Office Building, 47 E. South Temple, honored him on his seproachine 90th birthday. | ep pa David | 2 praised “Mr. erick. wha. has been building manager there for the past 15 years. The employes gave him a gift and then shared his birthday cake. THE EVENT was condudeed Wednesday because Mr. Herrick will leave Thursday for Den- ver to spend his birthday Mon-|} day with a son, Lester James _ Herrick, and a daughter, Mrs. A. P. (Josephine H.) Preston. He also has seven grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. © Mr. Herrick, who lives in the Belvedere Apartment Hotel, 29 S. State, is an avid follower of sports, He was born in Ogden June 2, 1868, Agnes to Lester James and McQuarrie Herrick. His father ond mayor. He was Ogden’s sec: attended Ogden schools and then held a variety of jobs. At one time, he was bookkeeper in Ogden’s First National Bank. About the turn of the century, _ Mr. Herrick was assistant postmaster in Ogden for six years and then was sécretary-treas- urer of Boyle Furniture Co. In LDS Church activities, Mr. Herrick has served as president of the LDS Western States Mission with headquarters in Denver. the couple moved to Salt Lake City in 1936. She died} --a few months later. They had been married June 1, 1894, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Herrick was the former Jane West. At the age of 73, Mr. Herrick - tg 1941 became bishop of Thir- WEES, enth Ward in Salt Lake e served foe a years.
