This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show SATURDAY, MAR. 23, 1901 Philadelphia Attended Dr Prices operations in morning. Visit out patient department at Jeff and in afternoon attended Jack Da Costas clinic. Saw him do Furgusons operation for hernia. Attend theatre with Dr McChrystal in evening. SUNDAY 24 Baltimore Mariland. Come down here this afternoon from Philadelphia. Visited Dr Krusen this A.M. Also Dr Ward. Ward ate dinner with me and then I took train for this city. Rather like looks of the city am stoping at Clafton House MONDAY 25 Baltimore Md A nice day. Have spent the day at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Saw Dr H. Kelley and Dr. Holsted operate and have enjoyed self happily. This is the grandest medical college in America. TUESDAY, MAR. 26, 1901 Baltimore Md Spend day in Hospital and have had good time Went over in city and called on the Mormon Missionaries. Met Bro R. Pincock of Ogden and others. Took five of them to the Theatre. Enjoyed went with them. Rained to day WEDNESDAY 27 Baltimore Md. Five little Oertel is six years old today and I would be pleased to be home. Have spent the day at Hospital and have seen Drs Kelly and Holsted operate. Visited Druhid Hill park with Bro Pincock. A most beautiful park. Letter from Ezra. THURSDAY 28 Baltimore Md. Wrote to Oertel last evening. Go to Hospital at 9 A.M. Go through Medical Ward with Dr Osler. He is fine fellow. See Drs Holsted & Russess operate. Go into city and purchase hat etc. and visits few sights in city Read. Write to Ezra. |
