S John Val September Browning 22, 1954 As for your failures to feed, theoretically the cure is not to remove .7 mms. from the top of the carrier if this is atithe point where the breechblock bears to depress the carrier. The material should be taken from the barrel extension and/or the receiver. The carrier should have plenty on the top to insure that the breechblock gets it down past the latch with some to spare. Otherwise, you will have failures to stop open after the last shot especially with heavy loads. I note that you polished the locking block opening in barrel extension, which should not be difficult to do instead of loosening up’ the locking, and is preferable, of course, if it works and if the barrels are all interchangeable. Instead of polishing this surface, you might try putting somecof the Moly Lube on it until it polishes itself. Laloux telephoned him when I get to me from New New York. Then I marked the present screw holes for the butt plates, and then I marked two more centers, which are the two closest to the lightening cut. This lightening cut has been reduced in the sketch in distance up and down to make room for these two centers, which represent the centers necessary in fitting certain recoil pads to the gun. With the lightening cut in the stock as made at present, there is not room for the screws on certain recoil pads, so we must on all future stocks make the cut about as shown in this sketch or else eliminate the lightening cut altogether, which probably would only add a fraction of an ounce weight. So many of the stocks are cracked at the butt the stOck is twisted on cinching up the stock plate bolt, tang, all apparently because that it may be necessary to put the a stud in the rear of the receiver and a hole in the wood of the stock at thickest point to prevent the stock from turning. You must realize that all of be these split replaced at stocks - and at our cost. None least 1/3 of all the guns here are split ~ must of them should be accepted from the factory. Love,
