Show out she could not teach for a couple of weeks he decided that he would try it then he came to see her about the lessons and together books he begged her pardon in such a way that he made himself ridiculous and then he took her books and went home thinking he was prepared to teach on the following day the first day was full of troubles he was worn out when night came and then he began to realize what school teaching really is by the time two weeks had passed he weighed ten pounds less and he said he had never worked so hard in his life with pleasure he went to return miss neta's books as he gave them to her he said well miss allen i am truly glad that you will be able to teach next week i thought that school teaching would be an easy job but i don't think so any longer i have spoken to the other trustees and they have all agreed to pay you fifty dollars a month i will donate my two weeks to you and pay your doctor bill for i feel that i can never repay you rolland has faithfully promised always to do as you wish him to he is even eager to start next monday with tears in her eyes she thanked him and the rest of that month was a happy one to her before she went home for vacation she was promised seventy-five dollars a month if she would teach there again when two years were up she had saved enough to take her to college though she was a couple of years behind the rest of her class she felt that her experience in teaching had been a schooling to her one little lesson she had learned she worded thus every word or thought or a we have ever said or done will come back by unseen acting thru another one j powel groberff 06 lovingly bedlct r principal david 0 mckay he wears no gold medal of i am it nor a badge from the senate chair his words are not clothed in a tyrant's fit that is recognized everywhere he boasts no cheap mantle of look-at-me inlaid with a dude's conceit we love to talk friendly with such as he much better need not compete he's here with the fruits of a busy hive from a nook in the bee-hive state encouraging habits of look-alive the honey is up-to-date may all commissioners gain as much from work with the lively bees may all sweet honey increase as such preserved in our local trees he's one of the utah men we need to soften the public's cry — a helping hand and a friend indeed to the ignorant's blinded eye * as the needy's pilot the coach the guide he inhabits his true position may wisdom forevet with him confide to increase the fruits of his mission so we as a body all wish you well may success ever crown your labors may the happiest moments be yours to tell and of int'rest to all your neighbors as teacher god grant you a fond good bye as students we thus address you the acorn staff |
