Designed for the purpose of supplying the normal student with the required rudiments of public school music. A practical working knowledge of rhythm, the melodic tendencies of the tones in the major scale, and elementary sight reading. Open to all. Autumn quarter. Two credit hours. Professor Hinchcliff. Music 2. Public School Music. The rote song and the principles of teaching it. Methods of conducting a singing class. History and Appreciation of Music. A course designed to acquaint one with the rise of music, its relation to the advance of civilization and its reaction upon the individual. Open to all. Mixed Chorus. A combination of Boys' and Girls' Glee Clubs. This chorus will work in close cooperation with the concert work of the Ogden Tabernacle Choir. Autumn, Winter, Spring quarters. One credit hour. Professor Hinchcliff. BAND AND ORCHESTRA Music 8. Band. Standard band music consistent with the musical ability of the Band's personnel will be studied. The band will function prominently in the gay-glad student activities of college life. College songs, vigorous marches and brilliant band selections will comprise the best part of this department's music study. Open to all players upon band instruments. Special attention is given to playing in ensemble; opportunity is afforded pupils for experience in accompanying. Open to all players |
