Show 46 WEBER ACADEMY, OGDEN, UTAH Missionary Course The following Missionary course has been outlined by the Church Board of Examiners and the First Council of Seventy. The time has been extended from one to two years, or until qualified. Students pursuing this course must not discontinue until honorably released by the principal on a special form from the Council of Seventy. The course for the second year is not yet outlined. IPrinciples of the GospelA study of the fundamental principles of the Gospel, using the standard works of the Church as texts. Three hours per week throughout the year. IIChurch History and Book of MormonA study of the leading events in the history of the Church, including the organization and duties of the various quorums of the priesthood; the more important revelations to the Church considered in the order of their reception; a brief study of the Book of Mormon and the evidences of its authenticity; general church information and training in the administration of gospel ordinances. Five hours per week throughout the year. IIISpecial Missionary TrainingEntering requirements: a call from the proper authority. This course will include instructions and practice in faith promoting work; drill in reading and speaking; the psychology of Missionary work; personal cleanliness and appearance; etiquette; presiding at and conducting meetings, and personal purity. Effort will be made continually to correct improper habits of speach. A critical study of at least one selection from a standard author will be included in the course. Five hours per week throughout the year. Texts: Buehler's Practical Exercises in English, with a suitable high school Grammar. VSingingPractice in part singing, the object being to acquaint the young men with the most useful and popular Missionary hymns. In this course the Y. M. M. I. A. and Missionary song book is used. Two hours per week throughout the year. |
