Show LETRS based spelling curriculum 290 ircles on a whiteboard. The circles represent each pop-it pushed. When the c sounds do not match the spelling, we must remember the letter by heart. Teacher will write a heart symbol above that letter to remind students. 1. live= has two sounds: /l/ /ĭ/ /v/. The spelling that represents those sounds are /l/=l, /ĭ/=i, /v/=ve. Draw a heart above the or. pelling dictation (2 minutes):The teacher will saythe following sentence S out loud and the students will write it down. The students will spell the best to their abilities, including the correct capitalization and punctuation. Afterwards the teacher will write the sentence on the board. The students will correct any mistakes they made, including capitalization and punctuation with a different colored pen. “Cheer for your team.” Day 3 S ort pictures & words into the ear and eer words (5 minutes): We are only focussing on six spelling words that have the ar and or words but there are many more words with ar and or. Let's sort the pictures & words. Pictures help students to connect words with meaning. Students will cut and paste pictures/words into the correct sort. Irregular word practice (5 minutes): Write the three irregular words. Use stickers to trace over the letters of the spelling words. Say the irregular words in sentences. pelling dictation (2 minutes):The teacher will saythe following sentence S out loud and the students will write it down. The students will correct any mistakes they made, including capitalization and punctuation with a different colored pen. “Steer your bike carefully.” Day 4 W rite 4 sentences (5 minutes):Students will write4 of their own sentences using a different ear and eer words in each sentence. They also need to use at least one of the irregular words in each sentence as well. Have students highlight, circle or underline the spelling words they used. Students may illustrate a quick picture for each of their sentences. Have students share their sentences and illustrations with a partner. |
