Show Serge Simmons Nancy Allen Kathy Hurrst Marva Burrows Roger Tom Robert Oyler Harold Roskelley Peterson Grimm Pete Sowa Janis Stokes Cheryl Kowallis Maryam De Ryke Speers We are proud of the fine debators who represented us at state this year. They worked many long hours in order to bring honor to Weber. We wish to congratulate them on their fine accomplishments. Students representing Weber were Erik Butler, Elaine Burnett, David Flinders, and James Keller. Absent were: Kathy Hurst and Roger Peterson. oS One of the most outstanding and perhaps best known areas of Forensics is debate, but the Forensics team took part in many other activities this year. Among these were extemporaneous speaking, oratory, and legislative work. Extemporaneous speaking consists of giving a spontaneou s speech, lasting five minutes. T:-hestudent-has-only..30,.minutes.to.prepare.on Ahis..assign edsubjeet. The speech is basically an analysis of current events. An oration is a polished, memorized speech on a vital subject, usually given to encourage action on a vital problem. In legislative work, parlimentary~-procedure-is. followed, and the class participates as a body in the Senate or House of Representatives. Class members debate on various bills which are drawn up by a committee and then submitted to the body discussion. We congratulate these students for their outstanding achievemen ts in this field and thank them for the credit they have brought to the school. We appreciate their work and also the efforts of their fine coach, Mr. Ronald Smout. Mr. Ronald Smout Coach for TEP prypeae i WO RNS, a allie PT MAE OY. we 117 |
