Show Publicity Committee Gloria Jensen (left) and Louona Harline made up the publicity committee. Each of the other committees appointed one person to inform them what publicity needed to be done for their committee. NOT PICTURED: Special Events Committee The Special Events Committee took care of special events assigned to the Union by the student government. The major events sponsored by this committee were Homecoming, the Union Birthday Party, and the Miss Weber State Pageant. Chaired by Doug Bingham this committee carried out these time-consuming events. Everybody is worried about apathy but I don't even care. Arts and Crafts Committee The Arts and Crafts Committee provided workshops for craft activities such as making candles for Christmas and valentines in February. They sponsored informal instruction in craft skills, ceramics, darkroom techniques, and sign work. Two projects each quarter were new programs. Their activities were designed to help the students more fully utilize the Union Hobby Cellar. Left to right: Tamara Daich, Janeel Johnson, Karl Hepworth, and Steve Sady, Missing: Dennis Westberg. Games and Recreation This committee organized, promoted and directed recreational activities, providing instruction where necessary. It organized outdoor trips, picnics, outings and games. It also organized ski trips as well as recreation clubs such as hiking, skiing, bowling and chess. Exhibits Committee Eileen Draper and Paul Grow served as Exhibits Committee with Paul taking over midyear. Art exhibits used in the Union Building were selected from the work of students, faculty, and outside sources by this committee. These exhibits were well displayed and returned when shows were completed. They displayed one exhibit for approximately every two to three weeks all during the school year. The committee was not limited to art exhibits. The exhibits included oil paintings, photographs, and other such art forms. |
