Show ORGANIZATIONS The academic and social life of the campus was contributed to by a large number of campus organizations. According to the ASWSC constitution, "any organization composed of college students which uses the name of facilities of the college is a campus organization and is subject to regulation by the Associated Students." The organizations represented on the following pages are only a fraction of the total. Coverage was given to those who either responded to our attempts to contact them or took the initiative to contact us. Page space was appropriated on the basis of the number of people pictured. The cost of the color coverage in the section of fraternities and sororities was paid for by those pictured in color. At the time of publication, a complete list of campus organizations had not been compiled. However, an attempt to do so was being made by Dean W. Hurst's office. The following list includes the majority of organizations that have been chartered by senate, but some of which were not active. The football team's rushing average, and the basketball team's overall success brought Weber into the national limelight. Several school and regional records, as well as attendance records were set throughout the year. On the other side of the coin, an increasing number of students and faculty members questioned whether the more than a quarter-million dollars spent on athletics could be used in a more effective manner to accomplish the academic goals of the school. Among the major objections lodged against the costs of athletics is the mandatory assessment of $6.67 from every student each quarter, regardless of their interests in sports. |
