Show January 25, 1929 Dear Dick: Our teachers surely got funny tonight, and after the band concert they played show. Miss Schaub was practising her music but had to quit while the coach talked to his girl. Mr. Stratford wore a street car conductor’s hat and called Miss Barnes Emma. I didn’t know that was her name. She cried and Tom said it was because Mr. Adams liked Miss Croft, but she didn’t want him. Anyhow, they went for a picnic but left an eighty-five cent bottle of olives. I didn’t blame them, if they don’t like olives any better than I do. Bill. January 28, 1929 Dear Wick: Last Friday the snow was deep and a lot of kids couldn’t come to school. Pa made me go, so after I got here I sluffed and went down to a movie. Today, the teacher asked me for an admit. I didn’t have one, so played | didn’t hear, But when she asked me again I had to go to the office. Mr. Murphy asked why I sluffed. | said the snow was too deep. He said he got here and so could I. I surely did talk to get that admit. I won’t sluff next time it snows. Bill. February 8, 1929 Dear Dick: Tonight our boys got beat by Boxelder. They had hard luck, but you should have ‘seen them when we played Ogden at Weber Gym. in January. We beat them in 45 seconds. That was surely a thrilling game Bill. March 9, 1929 3:30 Dear A. M. Dick: I’m up late because I had to walk clear back from Taylor after the Junior Prom. [ asked the Plain City girl that took me to the Thanksgiving dance, but she went with another fellow. I danced with her, anyhow. The gym looked pretty and I had all the punch | could drink. I thought the girls all looked pretty, but I got scared when Mr. Rabe took the picture and the decorations started to burn. Mr. Wahlquist surely jumped high and got the fire out. I’m too tired to write any more. | Bill. April Dear 12, 1929 Dick: The Sophomores gave a dance tonight. | didn’t take a partner because the Plain City girl said she had to serve punch. We surely had fun watching Lloyd Alvord turn spins. He surely can dance fast. I got brave and danced with some lady teachers. Hope that means [| get an A in English. Got D last term so I need an A. Bill. May 10, 1929 Dear Dick: As | haven’t written since April I thought I’d write and tell you about the fact that school will soon let out. The teachers say I might get passing grades if I don’t get spring fever any worse. The seniors are going to have a banquet. Wish I could go. | surely hate to see the seniors leave. Come down soon and help me pitch hay. Bill. Page Ninety-seven |
