After leaving Weber High School in 1927, Mr. West accepted a call to 29 on a m-ssion to the Eastern St-tes. At the mission he held a number of positions; one of which was Mission Superintendent of Sunday Schools. Upon his release from the mission he was granted the Weber County Educational Scholzrship at the U. of U. In 1929 he entered the University of Utah, carried a full course, with honors; then in his “‘spare time” he worked on the side nine hours a day, ee seven days a week. Then in January, Washington beckoned and he gave up the scholarship to accept a government position and study law in the evenings at George Washington University. He was president of the Delta Siguia Rho and a member of another fraternity, besides being a member of the debating team fpr three years. Two years ago he resigned from the government and accepted a position with the National Geographic Society, where he is now an essistcnt to one of the Assistant Editors of the National Geographic Magazine. He was married in 1933 to Miss Zelma Ririe and is the proud father of a fine son, Wilburn Cylde West II. oe FAWN a McKAY Miss McKay graduated from our High School in 1930 after which she attended Weber College in Ogden in 1931-32. While attending Weber College she had the honor of being associate editor of ‘““The Acorn Annual” in 1931. She was also a varsity debater in 1931 and 1932. She carried high honors in her Weber College career. In 1933-34 she attended the University of FLOYD FARR Utah, was varsity debater, and was a member of the mational scholarship fraternity, the Phi Kappa Phi. She held high honors on graduation from the “U”. In 1935 she obtained a position as instructcr of English at Weber College. This year, 1936, she is a graduate student off the University of Chicago. Mr. Floyd Farr graduated from Weber High School with the class of 1928. Weber College claimed Mr. Farr’s attention after his graduation from Weber High, for two years. During this time he was a member of a group on a debating tour to the Mississippi Valley States. He next attended the University of Utah and graduated in 1932. While at the University he particisated in dramatics in which he is most adept. Im 1932 he enrolled in the Weber High School faculty and taught English in 1932-33-34 plus Oral Expression in 1934-35. He left Weber, however, to accept a position as announcer at radio station KD YL in Salt Lake City and is at the present engaged in that work.
