Show 14 WEBER NORMAL COLLEGE BiologyThe equipment consists of the necessary simple and compound microscopes, microtome, sterilizers, glassware, chemicals, stains, reagent, prepared slides, etc., and a considerable amount of plant and animal material prepared in preserving fluids. It also contains a miniature fish hatchery, in which every stage of development may be studied. PhysiologyFor work in physiology the laboratory is supplied with a human skeleton, charts and models, and a complete set of slides. Each student is supplied with a set of general dissecting apparatus for individual use. A number of good reference books is kept in the laboratory in addition to the principal collection in the library. Free Hand DrawingThe art rooms are supplied with adjustable tables, drawing boards and model stands. Casts from the old masters in sculpture and still life models are included in the equipment. Domestic ArtThis department occupies the north half of the first floor of the main building and includes three large, well-lighted rooms, a dress closet, lavatory and a fitting room. The department is carpeted, and is furnished with drafting tables, separate sewing tables, eighteen sewing machines, models, individual lockers, and a fine glass cabinet for the display of the students' finished work. Domestic ScienceThis department occupies the south half of the first floor of the main building and consists of a large cooking laboratory and dining room. The furnishings are new and of the best practical material. The cooking laboratory contains two large coal ranges, a gas range, an electric range, espe- WEBER NORMAL COLLEGE 15 cially prepared student desks furnished with utensils, cabinets, sinks and tables. Manual TrainingThis department occupies two large rooms, and is well equipped with benches, lathes, up-to-date tools and machinery for giving a good, practical course in carpentry. CommerceThis department is well equipped with apparatus for carrying on commercial work. Two rooms are provided for the use of the Commercial department. The bookkeeping room contains ample desks. The typewriting room is equipped with standard typewriters. Rest RoomThe rest room is supplied with conveniences for students who are seized with a sudden illness or who meet with accidents during school hours. Here proper care will be taken of all who need attention or medical aid. STUDENT ACTIVITIES The Board of ControlThe executive body of the school is known as the Board of Control. The membership of this governing board is composed of the president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer of the Student Body, all the presidents of the respective classes, debating manager, athletic manager, editor of the Acorn, and faculty members consisting of five, respectively, the president, chairman of amusements, debating athletics and the normal class advisor. The AcornThe ACORN has been the literary paper of the school for many years, being issued from six to ten times annually. This past season, the Board of Control voted to make the ACORN a large annual issue, |
