General Geology. Deals with the work of the wind and running water, glaciers and underground water. Lectures and laboratory work on common minerals and rocks. Several field trips are taken in the Wasatch range. Five quarter hours. GEOLOGY 2. General Geology. A study of volcanoes, earthquakes, evolution, base leveling of mountain ranges, and the occurrence and origin of ore deposits with special reference to the mining districts of Utah and Nevada. Laboratory work on the more common ores and minerals. Field trips are taken. Five quarter hours. GEOLOGY 3. Historical Geology. A study of the geological formations of North America and Europe and the areal distributions of the formations of the larger geologic periods and the characteristic fossils of the plant and animal forms of each large division. Several field trips are taken. Five quarter hours. GEOLOGY 4. Economic Geology. Lectures, laboratory work on typical rock and ore specimens, and field trips. Prerequisites, Geology 1 WEBER COLLEGE and 2 and Mineralogy. Four recitations and one laboratory period a week. Five quarter hours. GEOLOGY 5. Rocks and Rock Minerals. A study of the origin, composition and classification of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Field trips, written reports and a collection of the minerals and rocks found in Weber County required. Five lectures and five hours in the laboratory a week. Five quarter hours. Mineralogy MINERALOGY 1. Ore Minerals. Prerequisites, Chemistry 1 and 2. Lectures, recitations, and laboratory work. Five quarter hours. MINERALOGY 2. Ore Mineral and Rock Minerals. A continuation of Mineralogy 1. Five quarter hours. Geography GEOGRAPHY 1. A consideration of the relation between the natural environment and the development of life and culture. Five quarter hours. |
