Show 144 combination of shop and technical instruction. The balance of the school day, or thirty hours a week, is devoted to general and related subjects. The time used may exceed the standards here stated. All training programs are recommended by local advisory committees composed of representatives of labor, management, and Weber College. The first two years of training under the College program are evaluated and recognized by the advisory committees as part of the first two years of apprenticeship. The Trade Extension Program is designed (1) to offer related and technical instruction to apprentices who have not yet received their journeyman certificates, but are employed on-the-job in programs related to the school training, (2) to offer instruction to journeymen in the recent development of the fields or to give refresher experience in their chosen occupations, and (3) to offer to owners, managers, and executives training in industrial organization and management. DEPARTMENT OF AUTO BODY RECONDITIONING R. Vandenberg The curriculum in Auto Body Reconditioning provides instruction in frame alignment, replacing of panels, metal finishing, and painting. Fender Repair. Training in the fundamental principles and practices of roughing out metal, metal bumping, buffing, sanding, leading, shrinking, welding, and the metal finishing of fenders. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Vandenberg 52. Automotive Refinishing. Instruction and training in the care and use of spray equipment, preparing the surfaces for refinishing; fundamental procedures in priming, surfacing, color matching, and blending touch up, striping, and the application of lacquer and synthetic enamels. Five quarter hours. Winter. Vandenberg 53. Automobile Body Repair. Training in the placement and repair of body parts, such as cowl, panel, trunk, lid rocker sills, side, floor, top and door panels; also checking and alignment of the automobile body. Training in the replacement, repair, and lubrication of the auto body mechanism, such as window and ventilator regulators, door and seat adjusters, and windshield wiper mechanisms.
