This is a rockfill type dam with a structural height of 246 feet and a crest length of 960 feet. The volume content of the dam is 1,310,000 cubic yards. The reservoir's name is Lower Bear River also and its capacity is 48,500 acre-feet. Purposes for construction of the dam were investigation and power. The owner of the project is Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and the dam was designed by them also. Lower Bear River Dam #2 - Located on the Bear River near Stockton, California, this project was completed in 1952 also. It is a rockfill dam with a structural height of 150 feet. This dam is owned and was engineered by Pacific Gas & Electric Co. Approximate cost of both these projects together was $3, 722, 000. Drainage Tunnel in Leadville, Colorado, for the U. S. Bureau of Mines in the amount of $655,000. Air Shafts and Rock Slopes in Colorado for the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company in the amount of $650,000. Two Shafts near Carlsbad, New Mexico for the Duval Sulphur and +Potash Company in the amount of $1,384,400. The two shafts are three-compartment, 6x18' 8", and partially lined. The first is approximately 1552 feet deep while the second is 1462 feet deep. Twc Shafts near Carlsbad, New Mexico for International Minerals and Chemical Corporation in the amount of $602,000. These two shafts were essentially the same as Duval's but only went to the approximate depth of 950 feet . |
