Army in the amount of $906, 000 Warehouses in Alaska for the U. S. Army in the amount of $652,000. Shops and an Ordnance Building in Alaska for the U. S. Army in the amount of $900,000. Buildings and Facilities in New Mexico for the Atomic Energy Commission in the amount of $2,156,000. Laboratory "D" Project in New Mexico for the Atomic Energy Commission in the amount of $11,300,000. Stripping a Limestone Quarry in Colorado for the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company in the amount of $540, 000. Garfield Dike in Utah for the Kennecott Copper Corporation in the amount of $4,228,000. This work started in 1952 and continued through 1956. Lark Surface Facilities - The Lark surface facilities consist of all maintenance shops, warehouses, air compressors, ore dumping and loading facilities, change houses, office, power plant etc. that are required for the efficient operation of a highly productive underground mine. The owner of this project is the Kennecott Copper Corporation and the project amounted to $3,000,000. Big Eildon Power Station - The owner of this project was the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission of Victoria (for the State Electricity Commission of Victoria). The construction work included the following: Excavation of 156, 000 cubic yards of sandy loam and gravel and 308, 000 yards of hard quality rock. Excavation commenced in June, 1951, and was completed in March, 1952. Utah had the responsibility to build the complete powerhouse, including connecting the "Y" branch to the penstocks completing all the electrical installation and, in addition, were commissioned to remove the two existing turbines in the old powerhouse, recondition and install them in the new powerhouse which included testing and putting on-stream ready to generate electricity and the installation of all butterfly and control valves. The powerhouse was then completed and ready for the installation of the two large turbines which were to be installed by the S.E.C. at a later date under a separate contract. |
