Show 1959 Projects completed during this period were: 1 - Poe Tunnel The driving of a water tunnel for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company near Oroville, California. Work was done under a joint venture agreement between Utah Construction & Mining Co. and Bates and Roger Construction Corp. Utah's share was 60% and the contract was unit price. The total amount of the project was $18,292,000. 2 - Barnhart Island Dam (Robert Moses) Located on the St. Lawrence River near the city of Messena in New York, this project was completed in 1959. It is a gravity type dam 167 feet high and 1,608 feet long. The volume content of the dam is 1,000,000 cubic yards. Purpose for construction of the dam was power and it has an installed power capacity of 940,000 kw. The owner of the project is the Power Authority of the State of New York. The dam was engineered by Uhl, Hall and Rich, an affiliate of Charles T. Main Inc. It was constructed by a joint venture composed of Walsh Construction Co.; Peter Kiewit Sons; Utah Construction Co; Morrison-Knudsen Co. Inc. and B. Perini and Sons, Inc. 3 - Barnhart Powerhouse The construction of Barnhart Island Power Plant in Messena, New York, for the Power Authority of New York State. Work was done under a joint venture with B. Perini & Sons, Inc. (sponsor), Walsh Construction Company, Morrison-Knudsen Co. Inc., Peter Kiewit Sons Company and Utah. Utah's share was 15%. Total amount of the contract was $36,229,760. 4 - Bhumiphol Yanhee Tunnels in Thailand for the Royal Irrigation Department. Cost is included in the overall project. 5 - Shirley Basin Shafts in Wyoming for Utah Construction & Mining Co. in the amount of $825, 000. |
