Show Track Prefabrication Workshop The tracklaying consisted principally of putting in place the 24-meter track panels which had been prefabricated in the workshop. The prefabrication workshop comprised - in the order of operations: - 4 welding benches which enabled the alignment of the ends of two 12-meter rails so that the weld could be performed. The 24-meter rails were moved out on conveyors and, after cooling, they were ground and marked, before being stockpiled. - The assembly shop for these track panels comprised six benches, served by traveling cranes. The prefabricated panels were loaded on lorries which could swivel and slide. - Each unit of three lorries carried a load of six track panels. The loads were joined together by couplings which were attached to the rails of the bottom panels. A train of 7 loads, maximum, was dispatched each day to the tracklaying site.
