Named administrative assistant to the Executive Vice President, Apparatus in 1951, he became General Manager of the DC Motor and Generator Department in 1953, and of the Motor and Generator Division in 1958. He was elected Vice President in 1960, and was named General Manager of the Industrial Drives Systems Division and the Transportation Systems Division in 1966. He became Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations in 1967, and was appointed Group Executive, Construction Industries Group in 1968. He was elected Senior Vice President in 1972. After engineering management assignments in the Chemical Division, he became General Manager of the Silicone Products Department in 1952, of the Metallurgical Products Department in 1959, and of the Chemical and Metallurgical Division in 1959. He was elected Vice President in 1962, becoming Vice President and Group Executive, Components and Materials Group in 1968, and Senior Vice President in 1971. After graduation, he joined the Company and was with Corporate Legal Services until 1957, when he became Counsel for the various departments of the Lamp Division. He was named Associate Trade Regulation Counsel in 1960, Division Counsel for the Component Products Division in 1963, and for the Housewares Division in 1967.
