Hershner Cross Senior Vice PresidentCorporate Administrative Staff Hersh, a graduate of Johns Hopkins University (AB, 1937) and Harvard Business School (MBA, 1939), joined the Company in 1946 as a Methods Analyst in the Appliance and Merchandise Department. After various assignments, he became General Manager of Trumbull Components Department in 1953; General Manager of Distribution Assemblies Department in 1954; Manager of Marketing Specialization Consulting Service in 1956, and General Manager of the Radio and Television Division in 1959. He was elected Vice President in 1962, became Group Executive, Industrial Group in 1963 and in 1970 was elected Senior Vice President. Present title, 1973. Location: Fairfield. Oscar L. Dunn Senior Vice PresidentCorporate Development Oscar joined the Business Training Course after graduating from Indiana University in 1936, and then had assignments with the Affiliated Manufacturing Company Department, General Electric Medical Products Company, and General Electric X-Ray Corporation. Named administrative assistant to the Executive Vice President, Apparatus in 1951, he became General Manager of the DC Motor and Generator Department in 1953, and of the Motor and Generator Division in 1958. He was elected Vice President in 1960, and was named General Manager of the Industrial Drives Systems Division and the Transportation Systems Division in 1966. He became Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations in 1967, and was appointed Group Executive, Construction Industries Group in 1968. He was elected Senior Vice President in 1972. Reed Senior Vice PresidentCorporate Strategic Planning and Studies Charlie holds chemical engineering degrees from Case Institute of Technology (BS, 1934) and M.l.T. (ScD, 1937), where he taught until joining the Research Laboratory as a research associate in 1942. After engineering management assignments in the Chemical Division, he became General Manager of the Silicone Products Department in 1952, of the Metallurgical Products Department in 1959, and of the Chemical and Metallurgical Division in 1959. He was elected Vice President in 1962, becoming Vice President and Group Executive, Components and Materials Group in 1968, and Senior Vice President in 1971. He was appointed Senior Vice PresidentCorporate Studies and Programs in 1973. Present title, 1975. Location: Fairfield. Walter A. Schlotterbeck Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary Walt received an AB from Columbia College in 1949 and an LLB from Columbia Law School in 1952. After graduation, he joined the Company and was with Corporate Legal Services until 1957, when he became Counsel for the various departments of the Lamp Division. He was named Associate Trade Regulation Counsel in 1960, Division Counsel for the Component Products Division in 1963, and for the Housewares Division in 1967. He became General Operations Counsel in New York in 1969, and was elected Vice President and Corporate Counsel in 1970. Elected Secretary in 1975. Present title, 1976. Location: Fairfield. Alva O. Way Vice PresidentFinance Al joined General Electric in 1951, the year he graduated from Brown University with an AB degree. He was named Manager of Finance, General Electric de Venezuela in 1962; Manager of Corporate Finance, General Electric S.A. (Brazil) in 1964, and General Manager of Heavy Apparatus Department, General Electric S.A. (Brazil) in 1967. He became Director General Adjoint of Bull General Electric in 1967; Manager of Finance, Information Systems Group in 1969 and Vice President, Honeywell Information Systems in 1970.
