Show Vice Presidents and Group Executives (continued) Gerhard Neumann Vice President and Group Executive, Aircraft Engine Business Group Gerhard holds a BSME degree from Ingenieur Schule in Saxony (1939) and was associated with the U.S. Air Force, the Flying Tigers, and the OSS during World War II. He joined the jet engine development facilities in Lynn in 1948, and in 1952 directed design activities with the Aircraft Nuclear Propulsion Project in Evendale. He was named Manager of the Development Engine Section in 1953; General Manager of the Jet Engine Department in 1955, of the Small Aircraft Engine Department in 1958, and of the Flight Propulsion Division in 1961. He was elected Vice President in 1963. Present position, 1968. Location: Lynn. Thomas A. Vanderslice Vice President and Group Executive, Special Systems and Products Group Tom holds a BS from Boston College (1953) and a PhD in physics and chemistry from Catholic University. In 1956 he joined the Missile and Space Vehicle Department, and in 1957 went to the Research Laboratory. He joined the Vacuum Products Operation in 1962 and was appointed Manager in 1964. In 1966 he became General Manager of the Information Devices Department, and became Deputy Division General Manager of Information Systems Sales and Service in 1968. He was elected Vice President and named General Manager, Electronic Components Business Division in 1970. Present position, 1972. Location: Fairfield. John F. Welch, Jr. Vice President and Group Executive, Components and Materials Group Jack graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1957 with a BS degree in chemical engineering, obtained MS and PhD degrees in the same field from the University of Illinois in 1958 and 1960, and joined General Electric's Chemical Development Operation as a process development specialist in 1960. He was appointed Process Development Project Leader in 1962, Manager of Polymer Products Manufacturing in 1963, Manager of the Polymer Products Operation in 1965, and Manager of the Chemical Development Operation in 1968. He was appointed General Manager of the Plastics Business Department in 1968 and was elected Vice President and named General Manager of the Chemical and Metallurgical Division in 1971. Present position, 1973. Location: Pittsfield. Corporate Staff Officers Arthur M. Bueche Vice President, Research and Development Art received a BS degree from the University of Michigan in 1943 and a PhD in chemistry from Cornell University in 1947, where he served as a research associate until he joined the Research Laboratory in 1950. He was appointed Manager of Polymer and Interface Studies in 1956, and Manager of Chemistry Research in 1961. Present position, 1965. Location: Schenectady. Edward H. Malone Vice President, Trust Operations An alumnus of Columbia University (BS, 1949) and New York University (MBA, 1950), Ed joined the Company in 1955 following positions with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Lincoln-Rochester Trust Company. After serving as a security analyst in Trust Investment Operations, he was named Manager of Private Placement Investments in 1959, Manager of Company Trusts Portfolios in 1961 and Manager of Trust Investment Operations in 1967. He received his current title in 1970. Location: Stamford. Terence E. McClary Vice President, Corporate Financial Administration Mac joined the Business Training Course in 1949 after Army service and graduation from the University of Nebraska. Beginning in 1952, he served as traveling auditor and Audit Administrator until named Manager- Finance, Power Transformer Department in 1960. He became Manager- Auditing Program and Personnel Administration in 1962, and Manager- Finance, Aircraft Engine Group in 1964. In 1969, he joined Sanders Associates, Inc., in Nashua, N.H. as Vice President-Comptroller and Director. In 1973, he entered Federal Government service as Assistant Secretary of Defense (Comptroller). He returned to GE in his present position, December 1976. Location: Fairfield.? |
