Moore Vice President, Corporate Public Relations An alumnus of Cornell University (AB, 1941; JD, 1943), Doug joined the Company in 1949 after three years of private law practice. He was named Counsel of the Component Products Division in 1951 and of the Lamp Division in 1954. In 1965 he was transferred to Legal Services and became General Operations Counsel in 1966. He was elected Vice President, Marketing and Public Affairs in 1968. Present title, 1970. Location: Fairfield. Thomas O. Thorsen Vice President and Comptroller Tom received a BA from Carleton College in 1953 and joined the Financial Management Program. Following military service, he was in Specialty Motor Products Department and in 1959 became Division Financial Analyst for the former Component Products Division. To Corporate Audit Staff in 1961; ManagerEuropean Office in 1965 and Audit Administrator in 1967. Named division business planner for Control and Drives Automation Business Division, 1970, and its ManagerStrategic Planning Operation a year later. Held similar position in Automation Business Division in 1972. ManagerFinancial Planning and Analysis Operation, Components and Materials Group, 1973. Present position, 1976. Location: Fairfield. Cecil S. Semple Vice President, Corporate Customer Relations Following graduation from Colgate University (BA, 1939), Ces was with Macy's and then Montgomery Ward. He joined the Small Appliances Division in 1954, and was named Manager of Sales for the Radio Receiver Department in 1956. From 1959 to 1966 he was Senior Vice President of Rich's, Inc., Atlanta, Ga., and returned to General Electric in 1966 as Marketing ConsultantMerchandising, for Marketing and Public Relations Services. He was named General Manager of Audio Products in 1967, was appointed Deputy Division General Manager of the Housewares Division in 1968, and in 1969 Division General Manager and was elected a Vice President. He was elected Commercial Vice President in 1971. Present position, 1973. Location: Fairfield. Steven C. Van Voorhis Vice President, Northeastern Regional Relations A 1936 graduate of Gonzaga University, Steve was with Pacific Greyhound Lines and in the Navy before joining the Company in 1946. In the Apparatus Sales Division, he was manager of advertising and sales promotion for the Michigan and then the New York district. He was named manager of regional activities for the "Live Better Electrically" program in 1955; Manager of Press, Radio and Television News Relations Operation in 1956; Manager of the Company's New York World's Fair Operation in 1963; and Commercial Vice President, Corporate Customer Relations, in 1965. Present position, 1970. Location: New York City. Russell E. Whitmyer Vice President and Treasurer Russ joined the Company as a member of the Business Training Course after receiving an AB from Amherst College in 1936, and was a traveling auditor until 1942, when he began four years' Navy service. After returning to the Company, he was named Comptroller for the Air Conditioning Division in 1951, Manager of Finance for the Aircraft Gas Turbine Division the same year, and that Division's Manager of Program Development in 1952. He became Manager of Finance for the International General Electric Company Division in 1953, General Manager of Latin America Business Division in 1964, and was elected Vice President in 1965.
