Community Emergency Response Team Would you like to help in becoming prepared for a major disaster? Would you like training in disaster preparedness? Would you be willing to serve as part of the community's team in times of disaster? If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, please continue. The community is putting together an emergency response team to prepare for disasters and to be trained in emergency response. Gerald Bischoff will lead the team for this community, with the assistance of the Weber Fire District. Disaster preparedness training will be offered by the Weber Fire District for those who are interested. This team will also help the community create and conduct emergency planning policies and procedures. If you are interested in serving on the emergency response team as a volunteer, please contact the city office 627-1919. Are you prepared for a disaster - such as a violent storm or earthquake? Are you trained to cope with a community-wide disaster? Is your community prepared for a disaster? If the answer is "No" to any of these questions, please continue. Weber Fire District Training There is a need for CERT! The damage caused by natural disasters effect all elements of society and government. Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) are trained to help communities mitigate disasters during the first 72 hours following a disaster when damaged roads, distrupted communications, high call volume, etc., may restrict access by professional emergency response teams. The purpose of CERT training is to provide private citizens with the basic skills that they will need to handle virtually all of their own needs and then to respond to assist their community's needs in the aftermath of a disaster. Course Content: The course consists of a total of 21 hours of training, three hours per night for seven weeks. Classes are taught by trained emergency personnel, including firefighters and EMTs. Week 1: Disaster Preparedness Week 2: Fire Suppression Week 3: Disaster Medical Operations, Part 1 Week 4: Disaster Medical Operations, Part 2 Week 5: Light Search and Rescue Week 6: Disaster Psychology and Team Organization Week 7: Course Review and Disaster Simulation Exercise
