It has been a long time since Ogden heard a soloist equal to her. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra won its way into the hearts of all our music lovers during their two concerts here. The "Elijah" given by the visiting soloists and the Tabernacle Choir was the crown ing point of the season. Edward McDowell was the one genuinely creative spirit, in a world-sense that American music has yet produced. He was one of the most individual writers who ever made music as individual as Chopin or Greig. He received most of his musical education in Germany, but nearly all his music was composed in America. Students have you ever stood outside about 5:30 and watched the faculty go out in twos? Some of them are very particular as to their order of march.
