Show 20 The Acorn to our town the artists who took part in the three concerts. March 23rd, Madame Blauvelt and the Tabernacle Choir gave a concert in the Opera House. It has been a long time since Ogden heard a soloist equal to her. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra won its way into the hearts of all our music lovers during their two concerts here. The "Elijah" given by the visiting soloists and the Tabernacle Choir was the crown ing point of the season. Edward McDowell was the one genuinely creative spirit, in a world-sense that American music has yet produced. He was one of the most individual writers who ever made music as individual as Chopin or Greig. He received most of his musical education in Germany, but nearly all his music was composed in America. If you were nearer, I'd-"But the startled butcher hung up the receiver. Ex. The grave is the apparent doorway through which we pass to heaven. The Acorn 21 GRIEF AND SORROW Although we found a new principal, we lost a geometry teacher. Speaking of the new student body constitution, a student was overheard to say, "I think this new collective system is certainly a line idea!" Nettie's mother saw the Botany class pass her house and afterwards asked who the boy was that Nettie was walking with. It was Prof. Bailey. On the day after the Leap-year ball, Driggs and Woolley were in a jewelry store to get an ad for the Acorn. Sleepy Driggs commented on the clock and some watch fobs and said, "Gracious, but this is a fine grocery store!" Students have you ever stood outside about 5:30 and watched the faculty go out in twos? Some of them are very particular as to their order of march.
