The Acorn 23 Athletics A Time of Victory Our Junior basket-ball team made a hit in Coalville, February 14th, when they defeated the Summit Stake Academy by a score of 19 to 20. Although our boys were outclassed in size, they proved themselves to be superior in team work. After the game the boys were taken to the Summit Academy, where they were royally entertained. On Thursday, March 12th, one of the most exciting games Ogden has ever seen, was played between the Y. M. C. A. second team and our boys. The players of both sides were in good condition. Both seemed confident of victory and both played with a determination to win. The score was kept nearly even through the two halves making the excitement intense. At the end of the first half the score stood 10 to 6 in favor of the home team but in the second half the visiting team rolled in a few baskets and made us fear the loss of the game. When the whistle blew for time at the end of the last half, the score showed a tie. Both teams redoubled their efforts and played fiercely for the decisive basket. After one, short, breathless moment the hopes of the visitors were cruely blasted as West Lindsay rolled in the ball amid the deafening cheers of the excited spectators. W. S. A. Line up Y. M. C. A. On March 14th our basket-ball team gave the students and people of Ogden a chance of seeing one of the fastest and most interesting games of the season. Our boys met the Salt Lake High School in our gymnasium. The game commenced at 8 P. M. both teams showing a great determination to win the victory and all through the first half the score stood very nearly even ending 16 to 14 in our favor.
