Show ATHLETICS What a fine chance Weber has for capturing the championship title this year with Herbert (G), Nixon (C), Belnap (F), Wilde (G), Wilkinson (F), Millar (G), L. Brewer (F), R. Jensen (G), and V. Critchlow (F). On December 11, 1914, the Alumni fell at the hands of dear old Weber, the score being 35 to 36. The Alumni team was composed of players who belonged to the 1910-11 championship team, thus showing the strength of our team. Saturday, December 12th, 1914, the players sallied forth to Provo to play the Brigham Young University. Weber put up a strong consistent fight against the tall giants of the opposing team, the score being 24 to 34 in favor of the B. Y. U. The Mutes proved to be an easy mark for Watson's squad. On December 17th they trimmed up the Mutes to a score of 54 to 15. Watson took a few of his men to Clearfield on December 23d, thinking that they would get roughed up a bit, but they came back with an easy victory hanging to their belts. The score was 15 to 48. On January 23d, 1915, the team played the B. Y. C. at Logan and met with defeat, owing to the superior weight and experience of the college team. The score was 53 to 20. Morgan High School was defeated by a score of 19 to 28, January 8th, 1915, in the former's gym. A return game was played with Morgan in the Weber hall on January 22d, ending with a score of 24 to 43 in Weber's favor. The first league game was played against the South Cache High School, at Wellsville, January 14th, 1915. This game was the most bitterly fought game of the season. The score at the end of the first half was 14 to 17 in Weber's favor. At the end of the second half the score was tied; the game was then prolonged five minutes, at the end of which the score was again tied. The team that made the first field ACORN 38 basket then won the game in which Wellsville was the "lucky dog," and ended the game by the score of 30 to 32. The line-up: Weber. South Cache.
