Show ATHLETICS B. Y. U. 42; W. A. 19. This is the result of the basket-ball game played at Provo Dec. 10. We think this a good score, considering the size and class of the teams. The game was fast and clean and our boys taught the Provo-ites a few lessons in short passing that they won't soon forget. Following is a report of the game given by the B. Y. U. school paper: "The Weber team is only a high school team, but they play extra good ball for men of that class. Last year they won the State High School championship and by all indications they will have no trouble in maintaining that title. Their team work in passing the ball is very good; they are clever and quick and play all the time." THAT B. Y. C. GAME. On December 16 we met the B. Y. C. of Logan on our own floor and defeated them by a score of 35 vs. 26. One reason for the victory was the united support given by faculty and students in the form of mental sympathy, cheers, banner waving, etc. The visiting team played good ball and played to win, but they were disappointed. The score ran close, although the game causing so much excitement that even our faculty forgot their dignity for the time being and committed some outrageous acts. A VICTORY WE DIDN'T GET. Our first league game was played with the Deaf Mutes at their hall January 18. It was a first-class game from the standpoint of the spectator, but not entirely satisfactory owing to the fact that the official scorers disagreed on the final count. Several baskets were made by the deaf boys after the whistle had blown calling a foul. Because of the noise and excitement the scorers got mixed up and the referee could not hear the timers. For instance, at the close of the first half the timers blew the whistle and our boys quit playing and the deaf boys made a basket. It was counted because of the fact that the referee did not hear the time called. At the close of the game the score was called a tie and in playing it off Weber was beaten. The deaf boys played fine ball. Farley playing best for their team. ACORN 23 THAT BRIGHAM GAME. At 5 :15 o'clock on the 27th of January, a special train of three cars left for Brigham City over the Ogden Rapid Transit line. This train carried the W. A. basket-ball team and scores of enthusiastic rooters who were on their way to participate in the second league game of the season. The game was a good one and each team was well supported from the side-lines, where friendly rivalry ran high. Every man played the game so much so that no favorite or star player could be picked. The final score was 52 to 31 in favor of W. A. Exchange Continued We also gratefully acknowledge the following: Angelos, New Orleans, La.; Artisan, Boston, Mass.; Anemone, Spearfish, S.
