Show For Charming You May Mia is as pretty as daffodils and lilies in the newest white shortie. Patsy Pollard, A.W.S. officer, Mrs. Reynolds from Hudson Bay and Co., and Miss Welling, Dean of Women were the guid'ng hands in this Spring's fashion preview. A well-tailored gabardine is Lou Jean Allyson's choice for a chic Spring suit. Here's the word for Spring! With the coming of daffodil and tulip you'll be wearing the new "tublin," made in luscious pastels matching the bluebird, crocus, and hyacinth. What's this, a sleeveless sleeve? That's right! Oh, so smart, and so cool for Spring and summer. Checks are rampant. Little ones and big ones are being seen in suits and skirts, coats and most anything. Be feminine and lovely in a slim skirt or a full one, a small, close fitting hat, or a big floppy one, in checks or prints. You'll be sure to charm others with the newest fashions designed for charming you this Spring. 14 Your Talent Shows La Dianaeda's prize winning skit featured three lonesome sailors on a last night of shore leave. Carol Folkman invented the narrative. Second place honors were grabbed by Sharmea. The squaws of Otyokwa took third deck laurels with their snappy C. I. Capers. "Are you ready?" "No," comes the frenzied reply, and McPhie promptly falls down the stairs (anything for a laugh) as the curtain goes up on the annual Talent Show, which packed 'em in and wowed 'em. Not soon to be forgotten were the acts presented by the various units on the campus. Just ask the Freshmen. They were there in full kitty force. So were the barbershop Phoenix "sisters" who passed out everything but shaves. Top honors of the evening were taken by the L. D. sailor girls with their search "Over the Rainbow" combining dancing, music, and colorful costumes. (Did you get a load of those girls in bathing suits? Talk about influencing the judges!!!) Dreams of Gov. Lee's generosity helped the pink ladies of Sharmea walk off with second place and the Otyokwa smoothies skillfully portrayed C. I. Capers for third place winnings. Afterwards everyone met at the Cafeteria till the pie and ice cream all disappeared. 15 |
