Show Note.The tables of Tides for San Francisco, San Pedro, Port Townsend and Astoria are obtained from the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey. These tides are extremely irregular, both as regards interval and height. The two tides may occur either during the same morning or during the same afternoon. Oh. 00 m, is midnight and 12 h. 00 m. is noon. An A. M. tide in the P. M. column is marked a; a P. M. tide in the A. M. column is marked p. To change "Pacific Standard Time" to San Francisco "Local Time," subtract 10 minutes. For San Pedro, subtract 7 minutes. For Port Townsend, subtract 11 minutes. For Astoria, subtract 15 minutes. The height is reckoned from the level of average lower low waters, for which the soundings are given on the coast and geodetic survey charts. These predicted times are all in "Pacific Standard Time," eight hours slower than Greenwich time. The large tide is distinguished by the letter L, and the asterisk (*) denotes that both Tides are of the game height. HIGH WATER AT SAN FRANCISCO. |
