The months of June and July, daughters Lois B. Peterson, Gail Birt, Louise B. Waldron, and Barbara C. Porter spent many hours cleaning and restoring relics relating to culture of the pioneers in Morgan County located in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Building. Mr. Linden Carter built shelves in the relic room for the antiques that were stacked on the floor. He also put locks and wheels on the glass show cases in the meeting room, while we cleaned more relics. July 31, 1981 Friday Daughters from the Weber River Camp, Mt Joy Camp, South Morgan Camp, and Hardscrabble Camp helped repair the pioneer pictures hanging on the walls with new hanging wire, paper backing, and new name cards. 1988 The pioneers, traveling from areas of relative abundance moved into barren, undeveloped country where every part of their existence had to be by the toil of their hands. Having survived the early trials of colonization, they began to develop a thriving society in Morgan County, Utah . Louise B. Waldron joined The Daughters of Utah Pioneers on the 26th of March 1968, as a member of the South Morgan Camp, Morgan, Utah. She has served on the Daughters of Utah Pioneers County Officers Board, as First Vice President and County Treasurer. She has also served in the South Morgan DUP Camp as Captain, Vice Captain, Registrar, and Custodian of Relics. At the Morgan County DUP building Mt Joy Camp, South Morgan Camp, Hardscrabble Camp and Weber River Camp held their meeting the 13th of September 1988. President Veley T. Dickson presided, Louise B. Waldron gave the history of the organization of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Morgan County, Utah. Written by Louise Butters Waldron Captain-South Morgan Camp Note: All data was obtained from minutes of DUP meeting and records. 1992 President LaRaine Bell Wilkinson, presided over the Morgan County DUP Camp meetings at the DUP building September 15, 1992. Daughters eighty years and older were honored. jl • • II I • • • JPEG-Bk13 Captain Louise B. Waldron honored each daughter and commented their many special accomplishments. The success of the company or camp is due to your dedication and leadership qualities, you each cared enough to attend meetings and you honored your heritage by the histories you read. You are outstanding representatives of the generation who followed the original pioneers. Your pioneer ancestors would be proud of you. So thank you daughters very much for caring, sharing, and giving of yourselves. We appreciate and love you, you are wonderful. Written by Louise Butters Waldron South Morgan DUP Camp Note: Twenty-three daughters were honored. I arrange my time to serve as a hostess guide for many senior citizens who visit our fine DUP Building, it is furnished with donated artifacts. I love the opportunity to serve in this organization, it is a big part of my life! 1994 Summer 1994 It was time for the old record book with documentary evidence of all the antiques in the Morgan County DUP Building to be updated with a new computer generated record book. Many days and hours of labor were spent in the DUP Building. In the meeting room the glass show cases were cleaned and new material placed on the shelves. The antiques were cleaned and new tags with a number and information was placed on each artifact, and recorded. Laminated cards with names and information were placed on all the framed pictures, and recorded. In the relic room we cleaned and rearranged the relics on the shelves. The glass book showcase was cleaned and the books were placed according to the year published. Two organs, a pulpit, rocking chair, spinning wheel, churn, glass show cases with hand made articles, newspaper clippings, pictures, beautiful dresses, fashion of former times on mannequins with wigs and one with a beautiful hat. Other dresses, and men and childrens clothing were hung on racks. New tags with numbers and information were placed on each item in the Relic Room, and recorded. Note: Mannequins and wigs were donated by daughters, Louise Butters Waldron and sister Lois Butters Peterson. Men, Women, and children who were the pioneers are important in the early history of this community. The pioneer artifacts on display in our museum, which have been I' • • • JPEG-Bk13 continuously collected, are owned by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Morgan County, Utah. We were proud to be a part of cleaning and documenting all the antiques in the Morgan County DUP Building.
