Show Sunday, December 23, 1928. Dr Gladys Bevan Rupert Knowles & I drove to Salt Lake & attended memorial services for the Prophet Joseph Smith this being his birthday An. Joseph Fiedling Smith was the speaker. We all had a nice turkey dinner with Mae & Oren. We also called on Earl & family & left them a nice turkey for Xmas. Arrived home about nine PM. A very cold night. Monday, December 24, 1928. A very buisy day preparing for Christmas. Rupert Knowls Gladys Bevan & I went shoping this evening. We decorated a very pretty tree and enjoyed the evening as best we could they thinking of loved ones left in Wales and Dr & I our first Xmas Eve without some of the children home around our tree looked rather for saken and a good deal of the Xmas Spirit was lacking no late hours spent to fix Santa no one knows except those who go thro the first Xmas Eve with all the family away. Never the same again & so life goes on. But we have every thing to be thankful for. We still have each other. |
