Show COME YE SAINTS AMBDA DELTS TRY THEIR HANDS AT MILLINERY. ROYDEN C. BRAITHWAITE, INSTITUTE DIRECTOR, EXTENDS A HEARTY WELCOME TO ALL W. C. STUDENTS TO USE THE INSTITUTE. Within the walls of the L. D. S. Institute John Vernieu delivers his weekly oration and W. C. co-eds have an opportunity each Sunday to model their high heels and take pride in their hoarded nylons. Music lovers find here a collection of recorded selections ranging from the latest Glenn Miller arrangement to Marian Anderson's singing of "The Lord's Prayer." Party committees find the kitchen a most convenient place to prepare refreshments, arranging flowers, etc. Open to all students at the college are the Institute library and lounge. This is home ground for Lambda Delta Sigma, whose sponsor is Royden Braithwaite, Institute director. Bob Petty and Lujean Hinchcliff are presidents of Xi Alpha and Xi Omega chapters of this organization. Lambda Delta members expect to sponsor this year several worship services and fire sides, a semi'formal dinner dance, a number of informal dances, parties service projects, and other activities. Standing, left to right: BOB PETTY, PRESIDENT MEN'S CHAPTER LAMBDA DELTA SIGMA; LuJEAN HINCHCLIFF, PRESIDENT WOMEN'S CHAPTER; LORRAINE DAME; VERNON DIEU. Seated: KAY ANDERSON AND MARJORIE ANDELIN, CO-CHAIRMEN PARTY COMMITTEE. 30 DOUBLE VISION The world's blind eye is seated in my mind, 'Walled in walls of what it would transcend; Another eye disinterestedly stares Above the foaming torrent of my fears. Which light is mine? Which eye is blind? Do searchlights bare the bosom of the night, Search out the prey that what they light They might desire? Do searchlights find delight In what they sight? Do eyes undrape the flesh beneath the fire? My blind eye says no hope is in the flight? My good one counts no searching worth the sight. Ray B. West, Jr. |
