Show I must also inform you, that there are several traffic-related projects over the course of this year within the city that we know of now. Qwest will finish installing its new fiberoptic phone line on 1200 West. Bona Vista Water District is upgrading its line on Pioneer Road and also 2800 West to an 8" capacity line. UDOT will be commencing its upgrade to the 12th Street intersection at 1900 West. All these projects will cause traffic delays, some more than others. Also, the Olympics will bring even more traffic, and thanks to the Legislature our city, along with other relatively new cities in Utah, will not be sharing in any of the revenue from the ticket sales. The exit at 12th Street is an alternative transportation corridor for the Olympics and the increased traffic caused by this for our community is unpredictable. Please be cautious, we may even need to plan our travel around peak traffic times. I look forward to this year. Nevertheless, the economy is slow, unemployment is rising, and there will be difficult decisions and complex situations to handle. I encourage you to let your elected council members know your concerns, help them keep us headed in the right direction at the right speed. Participate in the community so we can make this place a pleasant and safe home. Planning Commission Agenda Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. 1.
