After receiving this input, the Task Force recom- mended a mission statement to President Thompson. This statement was approved by the Board of Trustees and the Board of Regents in September 1993, and is included in this edition of Strategic Perspective. Last fall, strategic issues were identified by the Task Force and distributed to the campus for comments. The Task Force held a retreat in December to draft a university vision statement based upon these strategic issues. Ulti- mately, the vision statement that is recom- mended to the President will provide Strategic directions for the planning process. A draft of our vision statement is also included in this publication. The Strategic Planning Task Force at Weber State University has utilized two procedures to begin the process of evaluating institutional values: ¢ The Task Force developed a comprehensive list of what it perceived to be the core values of the institution. ee Approximately 1450 students, faculty, and staff participated in an Institutional Goals Inventoryi developed by Educational Testing Service of Princeton. The results of those two efforts are now available and have been correlated to one another and compared to national norms. We will discuss these findings together with "Vision" (see separate pamphlet) at the following open Goals Inventory/Assessment a > |
