Show YMCA ARMY AND NAVY YOUNG MEN’S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION “WITH THE COLORS” Camp Fremont, Calif. 8/18-18. My dear Mother;- I received your letter, my first letter from home, this afternoon to my great delight and satisfaction. I was the only one in our tent to receive mail from home, and they made me “set ‘em up” at the Canteen. Herrick and Poulsen think their wives must have forgotten them. Bramwell and Norseth spent their time coming out on the train writing cards at every stop to the “girl they left behind,” and Sunday, while I wrote to you, they wrote said ladies, and you see the result:- I get a reply by return mail while they still wait. I let my friends wait until Wednesday, before I started writing to them, and I’ve been writing two and three letters each night to relatives and friends since coming here. I don’t see how Lee got the card I mailed entorte before you got yours as I mailed yours first, from TO THE WRITER:--SAVE BY WRITING ON BOTH SIDES OF THIS PAPER TO THE FOLKS AT HOME—SAVE FOOD.
