Show Marriott-Slaterville City History January 2005 presently the ambulances come out of Ogden City. The cost of the service is charged to the resident who uses the ambulance, and no fee for the city is involved. Mrs. Panter said she has information on the ambulance service that might be helpful to the city and agreed to meet with Mr. Smout after the meeting. A study by J-U-B Engineers on the load limits on 1200 West found that heavy truck traffic is causing deterioration of the road. They recommend a weight limit of 10 tons be placed on the road which would eliminate larger trucks damaging the road. It is realized that many industrial persons who use the road would not be happy with the limit. Alternate state roads and possibly 400 North could be used. Eventually the 1200 West road will need to be reconstructed, but the city does not have sufficient funds to do that, and it must be preserved as much as possible. Two ordinances were discussed and passed by the council. The first, concerning financial and property administration amendments, is needed to comply with changes by the legislature, as well as others initiated by the staff and mayor. The second makes amendments to storm water basin requirements. It affects new projects after the passing of the ordinance. Flood problems and "100 year storms" in the community were discussed. Mr. Slater feels that a basin built to hold a 100 year storm is not enough, as they seem to come oftener than 100 years. Ogden City is building a new storm basin on BDO, across the street from the June Meyerhoffer home on 1200 West. A larger basin is needed to accommodate the water run-off from other cities, a problem Harrisville is concerned about also. Both ordinances were passed unanimously by the council. The sewer district will no longer be running a 72" line on 400 North, but is going to leave the pipe as is. Frank Blair has authorized the Central Weber Sewer District to run a 54" pipe through his property. The project will be done over the next five years and will be more cost efficient. Pot Hole Alert! President Ilium would like residents to call the city office and report pot holes on any of our roads.
