Show Marriott-Slaterville City History November 2005 insurance, errors and omissions insurance and bonding, for any thing that the city owns or operates, such as the new building, parks and programs. Resolutions 2005-J, covering the new agreement was approved after discussion. The city has received a letter from George Binford, Public Services Director for Ogden City, regarding 1200 West Street. Ogden proposes to help pay some costs of an overlay of this road in exchange for our city lifting the weight limit. City administration is considering a long-range plan to reconstruct the entire road and is pursuing state and federal funds for that purpose. An overlay will not fix the sub-grade base of the road which cannot support heavy trucks. Councilman Delbert Hodson was concerned that widening 1200 West would create more traffic problems. Administrator Bill Morris advised that the city only proposed a center turn lane with two traffic lanes as at present. Mr. Hodson is not in favor of lifting the weight limit. The council requests the staff to draft a letter, for its signature, to Ogden City regarding the long range plan for this road. Mayor Butler thanked Kiesel Sales and Service for donating the refrigerator for the senior center, as well s H&A Sales for donating the stove and microwave. Alden Farr was thanked for installing the city's mail box. The flag pole has been installed. The new flag flying there was donated by Carolyn Deru, in memory of her late husband, Dennis Deru. The building has been rented for several occasions such as weddings and receptions. Mr. Slater asked if the money for the building covers landscaping. The Mayor advised that this will need to be appropriated for installation next year. Steve Mecham was also thanked for the donation of the monumental rock in front of the new building, which will have an engraved sign on it. Mr. Mecham donated the rock and the engraving. Scott Van Leeuwen remarked that Rays Auto Body has built a fine new building for their business. Ouch! About 100 flu shots were given at the city's flu clinic this month. Wasn't it great to have this important service available so easily in our own community. The annual Christmas Party will be held on December 15, 2005, after the regular council meeting. The first event in the new Senior Center was a luncheon held November 30, 2005, beginning at 12:00 noon. Soups, salad, rolls, brownies and ice cream were served to a group of about 65. A questionnaire concerning seniors' interests was also handed out. Shauna Meyerhoffer is in charge of the Senior Center.
