Show 1 INTRODUCTORY. The tenth edition of R. L. Polk & Co.'s Ogden City Directory herewith presented is larger, and we believe better than any of its nine predecessors. It contains 114 more pages than the last edition (issued about a year ago), and also contains many more names, which is a certain indication that the City of Ogden continues to grow in population; and a glance through the pages of this work will convince any one that it also continues to grow in commercial importance. In canvassing for names and general information to be printed in the directory, we do not, as a great many people suppose, confine our work to the corporate limits of the city. We go beyond the limits, and include all the suburban towns and villages and the names of the farmers, truck gardeners, etc., adjacent thereto. We estimate the present population (including the suburbs, etc. above referred to) to be about 30,500. The attention of our patrons and the public in general is again directed to the Library of Directories established and maintained by us in connection with the Carnegie Free Library, Washington avenue and Twenty-sixth Street. Here can be found at all times during Library hours a very complete file of directories of the prominent cities of the United States and Canada, as well as Gazatteers of a number of the States and Territories. These publications are for free reference. Extending our thanks for the liberal patronage given us by the business and professional men of the city, without which an up-to-date and reliable directory could not be published, and also thanking the public in general for the many courtesies extended in the way of furnishing data for this publication, we are Respectfully, R. L. POLK & CO., PUBLISHERS, W. P. Cooper, Sec. and Mgr.
