Show For the year 1898-99, two years preparatory work were offered, designated as seventh and eighth grades. The review of the common branches was eliminated from the normal course. From that year on all subjects in the normal courses were high school level. The commercial course was also placed on a high school basis. For the year 1902-03, the preparatory course was limited to one year, designated as "corresponding to the eighth grade of the public schools". Two hundred and ninety-six students registered that year. Thirty-nine of them took the preparatory course. Eight students were under the age of fifteen, and eighty-three over the age of eighteen attended the Academy that year. The preparatory school at Weber continued as a one-year course until the year 1911-12. That year the total enrollment at the school was four hundred and eighty-one. Twenty-five took the preparatory course. The department was closed at the end of the year. The preparatory school at Weber Stake Academy and Weber Academy had served its purpose and served it well. Much may be said concerning the good which was accomplished. More than two thousand students took preparatory courses at Weber. Most of these would not have continued at school otherwise. These men and women went out into the various walks of life better equipped because of the training and the ideals which they received at the Academy. Many of them became leaders in their communities. Several hundred of them became valuable teachers in elementary and high schools in Utah and in the surrounding states.
