Hughes Pastor Dr. Donald Carpenter Chairman of Trustees March 21, 2006 RESOLUTION For Sister Edna Mae Washington One writer has said, “when from the dead God raised His Son and called Him to the sky, He gave our souls a living hope that they should never die! Christ has replaced the dark door of death with the shining gate of life.” Whereas, on Thursday, March 16, 2006, God in His infinite wisdom, has once again visited His garden and plucked a flower, Sister Edna Mae Washington. We, the Pastor, Officers and Members of the New Zion Baptist Church, in sincerity, do Join in this home going of our Sister Washington. She was a gracious, faithful, and devoted servant of God and His Church for many years. Whereas, we desire to place on record our love and esteem for her life and labor; and in view of her noble efforts and sincere Christian devotion to advance into the kingdom of our Savior. We thank the Heavenly Father for Sister Washington wish to express our sympathy to her relatives and friends. Be it resolved, that we do bow in humble submission to the will of God, and commend the bereaved Jamily to Him who sees all and knows every heart; so console yourselves in the hope of a reunion, that after life’s remaining ills are past, that is like healing oil to the wounded heart, comforted with pleasing, rather than sad thoughts. Be it further resolved, that a copy of this resolution is provided to the family and a copy placed in the records of the New Zion Baptist Church. May each of us glance into the direction which she has gone and be more determined to live our lives faithfully and Sruitfully to God. “Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from Him cometh my salvation.” (Psalms 62:1 ) Because Christ Lives, Reverend Derrel A.
