Show Requirements for Admission Weber College admits students classified as follows: (1) Matriculated Students for College Preparatory Curricula, (2) Unmatriculated Students for College Preparatory Curricula, cad (3) Matriculated Students for Terminal Curricula. MATRICULATED STUDENTS FOR COLLEGE PREPARATORY CURRICULA. A Matriculated Student for College Preparatory Curricula must be a graduate from an accredited high school or must present a minimum of fifteen units of high school work. Ten of the units must be distributed as follows: Units English 3.0 Algebra 1.0 Geometry 1.0 Science _ — 1.0 Social Science 1.0 Electives (from the above groups and Modern Languages) 3.0 Iri addition to the above requirements a student majoring in engineering must include in the total units one-half unit of advanced algebra and one- half unit of solid geometry. One-half unit of trigonometry is recommended. When a student has fifteen units of high school work but is deficient in one or more of the specified units, he will be required to make up that deficiency before he is graduated. UNMATRICULATED STUDENTS FOR COLLEGE PREPARATORY CURRICULA An Unmatriculated Student for College Preparatory Curricula must meet the following requirements: (a) his registration must be limited to courses which his previous training or ability justifies, and (b) his deficiencies must be removed before he becomes a candidate for graduation. An unmatriculated student may at any time attain the status of a regular matriculated student by satisfying all matriculation requirements. He may receive college standing by completing ten quarter hours of college work for each high school unit in which he is deficient or by passing written entrance examinations. MATRICULATED STUDENTS FOR TERMINAL CURRICULA Matriculated Students for Terminal Curricula must present fifteen units of high school work or must have attained the age of eighteen years. If a student in the Terminal Division does not present fifteen units of high school credit, a recommendation from the principal of the high school last attended must be submitted, providing the student has been in attendance at a high school within one year preceding the time of application for admission to Weber College. Students of this Division are not preparing for higher degrees. They pursue a terminal course and at the completion of this work receive a Certificate of Completion in the field wherein their specific requirements have been met. These requiremnts may not satisfy the entrance requirements of the higher institutions of the state. 22 AdnuAAiwt R&fttdibejft&sitd, SELECTIVE ADMISSION TO TRADES AND DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION A student is admitted to the Trade and Distributive Education Courses on a selective basis. The school reserves the right to reject any applicant who does not propose to use the training for entry into employment, or who is not occupationally qualified, or who cannot profit by the training. To enroll in these courses the student must satisfy the entrance requirements, and receive the approval of the instructor and the coordinator concerned. If the class is filled at the time application is made, the applicant for enrollment will be placed on the waiting list and will be notified when there is a vacancy for which he might qualify. There is no certain period when an entire class in the Trades is graduated and another group is started. Students may enter a class at any time during the school year when there is a vacancy. These vacancies occur when students complete their units of training or are placed on a job. Those on the waiting list will be notified when there are opportunities to enter the class. MORAL CHARACTER In order to be admitted to Weber College in any of the above classifications, a student must be of good moral character. A student who has been dropped from any high school or college on account of poor scholarship, or unsatisfactory conduct, or who is on probation at another institution may not register at Weber College without first appealing to the Standards Committee for entrance. This committee will be guided by the recommendation of the institution from which such a student transfers. A student should have his high school credits on file In the Registrar's Office by September 1. 1942. If his credits are not on file by time of registration1 he may be denied entrance. A student who has taken college work previous to his entrance to Weber College must file his credits from all other institutions attended. Numbering of Courses Courses numbered from 1 to 49 inclusive allow college preparatory credit. Courses numbered 50 and above allow terminal credit. Terminal courses are offered for junior college credit only and are accepted by Weber College toward graduation of the terminal student. These courses may riot foe accepted at full value by the higher institutions of learning. 23 |
