Show 1954 Projects completed during this period were: 1 - Big Cliff Dam Located on the North Santium River near the town of Detroit, Oregon, this project, for all practical purposes, was completed in 1953. It is a gravity type structure with a height of 191 feet and a crest length of 289 feet. The volume content of the dam is 102,000 cubic yards. The reservoir's name is Big Cliff also and its capacity is 5,930 acre feet. The purpose for construction of the dam was power, and the installed capacity is 18,000 kw. The owner of the project is the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and the work was engineered by them also. The work was constructed by a joint venture composed of Columbia Construction Company, Consolidated Builders, and Utah. Approximate cost of the project was $7,253,000. 2 - Gateway Tunnel Work consisted of driving, lining, and constructing portal structures for 17, 000 linear feet of fully lined tunnel approximately 10 feet in diameter. The project was part of the Weber Basin Project located near Ogden, Utah. The owner of the project was the United States Bureau of Reclamation and the contract amounted to $2,649,000. 3- Big Eildon Power Tunnel in Australia for the State of Victoria. The cost of this project was included in the overall project which will be reported later. 4 - Additional Work at Darco Division - Atlas Powder Company - Marshall, Texas Utah built a complete lignite screening facility. This included considerable alteration to the existing structures and tying into the plant operation without a shutdown. Also built, was a new grinding and handling installation. We installed a complete vibrating conveyor and weighing system in the burner building. This was done under extreme temperature conditions and without any interference with production.
