Show 8 - A Housing Subdivision in Colorado for Allendale Homes Incorporated in the amount of $1, 196, 000. 9 - A Housing Townsite in Nevada for Elysium Terrace Incorporated in Nevada for $1,136,000. 10 - Housing in San Luis Obispo, California, for Goldtree Homes Inc, in the amount of $653,000. 11 - Defense Housing Project - Joliet, Illinois. To help alleviate a pressing shortage of housing for defense plant workers in the Joliet area, this $5, 500, 000 development was constructed by Preston Management Company, an affiliate of Utah Construction Company. It consisted of more than 580 modern, comfortable two and three bedroom homes, in three separate tracts, accommodating nearly 2, 000 persons. In addition to owning, managing and maintaining the project, Preston also operated a service company which provided water, gas and sewage disposal for the tenants. 12 - Harbor Development - Guaymas, Mexico This program called for the reclamation of some 160 acres of underwater land and construction of more than 8, 450 lineal feet of wharf frontage. The rectangular perimeter of the reclaimed land was formed by 256 sheet pile cells, backfilled with rock and capped with a reinforced concrete wall and deck. Within this perimeter a system of dikes formed rectangular ponds into which 5,200,000 cubic yards of material would be dredged from the harbor approach and maneuvering channels. 13 - Port Improvement - Mazatlan, Mexico The executive branch of the Federal Government of Mexico had undertaken extensive harbor protection and development work at Mazatlan, Sinaloa, under direction of the Secretary of the Navy. The harbor protection work included construction of the 1,110 ft. long, 495, 0.00 cubic yard "Este" breakwater, and repair and strengthening of 1,470 feet of the "Creston" breakwater. Compania Utah, S. A. built the Este breakwater using two four- cubic yard shovels and a fleet of 15 and 22 ton trucks to quarry and haul the dumped rock core. A protective revetment of rocks, 5 to 20 tons in size was placed with a 100 ton crane. The same equipment was used to place the 180,000 cubic yards of rock required to repair the Creston breakwater. |
