Show Gerald Miller - Prineville, Oregon: Gerald Miller was to accomplish all excavation and embankment from station 70 + 00 to the north end of the dam, stripping the north borrow area, and excavation for the spillway and outlet works. This subcontractor failed after four months and the remainder of his work was accomplished by Utah. Ogden Construction Company - Ogden, Utah: This Company subcontracted for the placing and tying of reinforcing steel. The reinforcing bars were furnished already bent to specifications by the supplier, The Colorado Builders Supply Company. C. W. Casey Welding Works - Colorado Springs, Colorado: The company subcontracted the installation and painting of the 26-, 32-, and 56-inch outlet pipes. They completed the 56-inch pipe in 1949. Difficulties with the Boilermaker's Union resulted in their withdrawal from the job in 1950. Rocky Mountain Welding and Engineering Company - Denver, Colorado: This Company installed and painted the 26-inch and 32-inch outlet pipes originally scheduled for accomplishment by the Casey Welding Works. Oldham Trucking Company - St. Joseph, Missouri: This Company trans- ported the riprap and ground blanket materials from Burlington, Colorado to the dam site for Cass Construction Company. The also transported the coarse aggregate for concrete from Burlington to the dam site for Horner and Switzer. The approximate cost of this project was $10, 000, 000. If more information is needed about this project, the Bureau of Reclamation has a very apt and descript publication entitled, "Bonny Dam - Technical Record of Design and Construction". General Information Purpose: Irrigation, flood control, silt storage, recreation, fish and wildlife preservation, and stream pollution abatement. Location: On the South Fork of Republican River near Hale, Colo., about 6 miles west of the Colorado-Kansas, State line. Constructed: 1948-1951 Water Supply: South Fork of Republican River Drainage area: 1,495 square miles Maximum flood: 103, 000 cubic feet per second (1935) Average yearly flow: 34,500 acre-feet Reservoir: Area: 2, 042 acres Controlled storage: 170, 160 acre-feet at elevation 3710 Irrigation storage: 23, 922 acre-feet Dead storage: I, 418 acre-feet Flood storage: 128, 820 acre-feet Sediment control storage: 16, 000 acre-feet (100 years) |
