Show The labor force included 125 engineers and draftsmen and a peak labor force of 5,100 people. Virtually all construction on this project, including mechanical, electrical and process work, was performed by the joint venture's own forces, under the direction of Utah's specialist engineering and construction super visory staff. Early in 1956 Utah was given responsibility for designing and procuring machinery to owner's specification issued in the form of user requirements. This job was one of the largest projects ever undertaken in Australia. 18 - St. Mary's Munitions Project Powerhouse This work involved construction of a boiler house 113'2" long, 54'8" wide with a height to underside of truss of 36'. The floor is of concrete and the walls of brick, aluminum and glass steel truss, roof built up in steel decking. The purpose of this power house was to supply process heating and space heating to the various sections. Output: High pressure hot water (not steam). Closed return system. Maximum continuous rating 28 x 106 B.T.U.'s per boiler hour. Water flow 200,000 lbs. per hour per boiler. Temperature and pressure: Working pressure 120 p.s.i. Outlet temperature 350 degrees F. |
