| Biographical/Historical Note |
A cloth disposable disk is clamped in the bottom of the strainer to catch any impurities that might be in the fresh milk collected in a bucket by hand milking and poured into the strainer. This dairy milk strainer was used by Esther Mary Taylor Chugg (1891-1984). Strained milk went into wide mouth gallon glass bottles and excess unpasteurized milk was stored in a refrigerator and sold to neighbors from their home (1139 North Harrisville Road). |
