Title Thurston Family
Image Captions Hulda Cordelia (daughter), Thomas Jefferson Thurston (father), Rosetta Bull (mother), George Washington (son).
Description This is a collection of portraits of Morgan County Pioneers plus some art pieces from or about that time period.
Biographical/Historical Note All were 1847 pioneers of Utah, the first settlers of Morgan County, Utah. All the clothing worn by members of the family, including the suits of the men, was made entirely by Mother Thurston and daughter, Hulda. They raised the sheep, spun, dyed and wove all the cloth. The white collars were hand embroidered, and the one on Hulda is now in the possession of her oldest daughter’s family. Hulda Cordelia Thurston Smith was the first Relief Society Stake Secretary, and wife of Stake President, Willard G. Smith. This picture was reproduced from a daguerreotype made about 1862. Donated by Estella Smith Mulliner and Alberta Smith Porter. (This picture is Item No. 200 in the Morgan, Utah Pioneer Memorial Building.)
