Show 18 THE ACORN The game was called at 8:15 and everybody was feeling-mighty anxious. Suddenly a guard shot forth and succeeded in starting the score with a field basket. Our center simply put the ball where it was needed and the forwards did the rest. At the end of the first half the score stood 32 3 in our favor, and at the end of the last half the score was 44 23, still remaining in the favor of Weber academy. The Examiner stated that it was the swiftest game ever played in Ogden and from the interest manifest it must have delighted the spectators. Now we have all the chance in the world for winning the prize that is to be given to the champion team. A dainty repast given by the Sorority girls was awaiting both teams after the game. This added greatly to the evenings success. Our wrestlers are working hard and we'll have a team that will surprise our neighboring schools. Trucedor is training with the punching bag, so huskies watch your hats that they don't fly off sometimes. Messers. Burton and Reeder need everybody's support in practicing the yells. THE ACORN 19 Locals Miss Wetzel: "What is the meaning of equinox?" Evans: "Hem Let's see now, equi means horse and nox means night. Oh yes, it means nightmare." James (in English): "There aint no sense to it." Mrs. Kunz: "There aint what?" James: "There aint any sense to it." Mrs. Kunz: "That is better." Miss Wetzel (in Latin): "Their cavalry was rooted." Burton Driggs (giving a description of Miss Cleghorn): "She wore her hair in circular form." Miss Cleghorn (speaking of Queen Elizabeth); "She was not good looking nor never could be with her red hair and freckled nose." Note We wonder why Lila Eccles immediately flounced out of the room. February 11, Principal McKendrick received the following note: "Professor Shurtliff going to sea his wife, desires the best wishes of the faculty for his protection." Professor Hintze: "Things are not always what they seem." Lenora: "Honest Professor Hintze even in examinations." Professor Harker: "Read all this story out loud to yourself." Edna: "It is a week from next Friday, or if you can't comprehend that, two weeks from last Friday." |
