Show EXCHANGE The Christmas exchanges which we have received illustrate plainly the fact that the influence of the Christlike Spirit" brings out the best there is in man. We acknowledge the following: "The Utah Chronicle," Salt Lake City, Utah; "The Rustler," Fremont, Neb.: "College Chips," Decorah, Iowa; "The Utah Eagle," Og-den, Utah; "The Round Up," Las Cruces, New Mexico; "The Tatler," Nashua, N. H.; "The Granitian," Salt Lake City, Utah; "The Shucis," Schenectady, N. Y.; "The Crimson and White," Albany, N. Y.; "The Assembler," Wrentham, Mass.; "The Dinosaur," Laramie, Wyo.; "The Preparatory Herald," Keyser, W. Va.; "Keramos," East Liverpool, Ohio. The Christmas number of the "News," Eugene, Oregon, delights us with its originality and "sporty" spirit. When we want something original throughout, we read the "Kuay," Seattle Washington. The stories and joke department found in the "Crucible," Colorado, are excellent. The paper as a whole is well arranged and neat, but the headings could be improved upon. When anyone asks for an interesting book give them "Students' Rays," from Ricks' Academy, Idaho. Every department is full if life and school spirit. ATHLETICS Weber's Team for this year Toone, Left Guard. Lindsay, Right Guard. McKay (Captain), Center. A. Belnap, Left Forward. Jones, Right Forward. Heiner, V. Belnap, Herbert, Substitutes. The Opening Game. With new suits under their arms, and happy looks upon their faces, Weber's team journeyed to Provo on December 14. There they met the strongest team in the state: The B. Y. U., which has won the intercollegiate championship for the past three years. Weber displayed great speed in this game and really bewildered their giant opponents by their fast passing. They were unable to win, but they made an excellent showing, and the players and the people of Provo complimented them on their work. All of Weber's men played a good game and helped Belnap score the 26 points made by him. The score was 48 to 34 against Weber. Tit for Tat. Game No. 1 Belnap and Lindsay had not recovered from their injuries received at Provo, when the whistle sounded to start the game between Weber and the fast Y. M. C. A. team of Salt Lake City. Watson, the old star, Heiner and Peterson were sent in to fill their places. The game was fast, a little rough, with hard luck holding a prominent position when Weber threw at the basket. It was almost heart-breaking to see Weber break their opponents' plays, and then see them continue to throw at the basket with very little success. However, they succeeded in making 27 points as compared with 22 for Salt Lake. Watson was the star performer. |
